Plea for patience following rising levels of abuse from patients

However, with change comes challenges. Many of our staff have been trained on our new system and they’re adapting to new ways of working, and this means certain tasks may take a little longer than usual.

Carolyn Mills, Chief Nursing Officer at the Royal Devon said: ‘We appreciate this may feel frustrating for our patients, but we’re doing everything we can to get people the care they need as quickly as possible.

“All of our services are extremely busy and our staff are working tirelessly under intense pressure. For our staff to receive abuse from patients and their families is not only unacceptable, but heart-breaking.  Please can people who visit any of our services be polite, patient, and respectful towards us – kindness makes such a difference.”
