Colorectal (rectum, anus and colon)

Colorectal surgery deals with disorders of the rectum, anus and colon. Colorectal surgeons treat cancer of the bowel and a range of conditions including:

  • Colorectal cancer
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Diverticular disease
  • Functional bowel disorders
  • Pelvic floor and prolapse
  • Hernias
  • Abdominal wall repair
  • Stoma care
  • Anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids (piles), fistulas and fissures
  • We also treat people who need emergency surgery

We work closely with the Upper Gastrointestinal team (they look after conditions affecting the upper part of the digestive system), as well as specialists across the hospital.
