Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a diagnostic test that uses a tiny camera to inspect the oesophagus, stomach and bowel (gastroscopy) or the large bowel (colonoscopy). It is also used to look at other areas of the body such as the respiratory system (bronchoscopy), the bladder/urinary system (cystoscopy) and other areas depending on the speciality needed.

This referral-only service is offered at both the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and North Devon District Hospital (the Gemini Suite).  There is also an outpatient facility at Tiverton Community Hospital for some types of procedures.
