Endoscopy

An endoscope is a thin, flexible instrument with a light source and a camera which enables the healthcare professional to examine and take pictures of the inside of certain areas of the body, such as the upper gastro-intestinal tract, colon, bladder and lungs.

Endoscopy is a term used to cover a number of diagnostic procedures such as Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, Capsule Endoscopy, Enteroscopy, Cystoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Medical Thoracoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound.

Our Endoscopy Units provide a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures to the local population, as well as specialist endoscopy to the wider Peninsula community.
