Public transport 

The hospital is easily accessible using public transport. 

  • We are well served by local bus routes and a number of services stop near to the hospital.
  • Exeter City Central Train Station is around 1 mile away.
  • St David's Train Station is around 1.5 miles away.

Walking

The hospital is just under 1 mile from Exeter City Centre and takes approximately 15 minutes on foot. 

Bikes 

Bike paths run throughout Exeter and the hospital site is easily accessible by bike. Bike parking is available.

Park and Ride 

The Green (GRN) Park & Ride service which runs from both Matford (EX2 8FD) to Sowton (EX2 5GL) serves the Heavitree site, with stops adjacent to Waitrose and University of Exeter's St Luke's Campus.

Car parking on site

Car parking on site is limited, with a number of paid car parks. We encourage visitors to use public transport and other sustainable means of travel whenever possible (see 'Getting here' section for details).

Under section 7 of the Health and Medicines Act 1988 Hospitals were permitted and encouraged to introduce Income Generation schemes, to fund their services.

Our patient and visitor car parks are now controlled by Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras (ANPR), which will capture vehicle registrations on entry. Users simply enter their registration at the car park terminal when they return to their cars at the end of their hospital visit, and pay for the time used. Payment can be made with cash, card or contactless, or via mobile phone app. Please note the payment machines do not give change.

Car registrations are recorded only for the purposes of car park charging, and are used in compliance with Data Protection laws.

  • Up to 2 Hours: £2.50
  • Up to 3 Hours: £3.50
  • Up to 4 Hours: £4.50
  • Up to 5 Hours: £5.50
  • Up to 6 Hours: £6.50
  • Up to 7 Hours: £7.50
  • 7-24 Hours: £12.50

Weekly tickets are available from the General Office, Main Entrance for patients/visitors £26.00

Entitled to free parking?

If you are currently entitled to free parking at the hospital, this will continue to be the case.

Blue Badge Holders: Simply take your Blue Badge to a reception desk on entering the hospital, and your vehicle registration will be registered for free parking. You will not need to do anything further on leaving the car park.

Volunteer drivers: Will be able to register for a 12 month permit via the staff Parking Portal, but in the meantime, you can just check your vehicle registration number in at a reception desk.

Carers and parents with children in hospital overnight: Register your vehicle at reception or at Bramble ward

Patients visiting on a regular basis for treatment i.e. Oncology, Haematology, Renal and Diabetes departments: When you attend your department reception as normal, please give the reception staff your vehicle registration number and vehicle details and they will add your vehicle to the exemption list.

Fine fillings

An a la carte sandwich bar serving a wide range of freshly made sandwiches and baguettes (made to order), baked jacket potatoes, pasties, cakes and a selection of hot & cold beverages.

Open to patients, visitors and staff.

Outside space

There are attractive gardens with seating that you are welcome to use.

A pay phone is available at the Hospital Main Entrance.
