North Devon MP visits vaccination centre
9 Jun 2022
The MP for North Devon, Selaine Saxby, has visited the brand new, purpose-built mobile COVID-19 vaccination facility run by Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Barnstaple.
Ms Saxby visited the new facility on Monday 30 May. She was shown around the site by Suzanne Tracey, Royal Devon Chief Executive Officer and Leigh Mansfield, Royal Devon Programme Director, Vaccination Services
The new vaccination centre opened on Monday 9 May and is located in the car park of the Barnstaple Tesco Extra, just across the road from its previous site in the Barnstaple Leisure Centre.
Ms Saxby met and chatted to staff and volunteers at the centre about how the centre is run and the variety of vaccinations being delivered.
She said afterwards: “The COVID-19 vaccination centre in Barnstaple has now moved to the Tesco’s Extra car park at Seven Brethren. The new site is well designed and caters for children, boosters, and anyone else who still needs their jab.
“Do check if you are travelling that your COVID-19 vaccination is valid. Open seven days a week, it is easy to get your jab.
“Thank you to the vaccination team who have relocated ahead of the new Leisure Centre opening.”
Suzanne Tracey added: “We were delighted to welcome Selaine to our vaccination centre in Barnstaple and show her the brilliant work our staff and volunteers are doing there.
“Visits like this really raise awareness of how important vaccination is in the fight against COVID-19, so we were really grateful to her for taking the time to come and see it first-hand.”
